In order to get a high score for the Reading part you should know the format of the tasks and practise doing them within the time limit. It is important to train to complete all 40 questions in 60 minutes because in the real exam you will not have more time.
When you start preparing for the reading part, it is ok to have more time for the tasks. You should tune into the format and understand what strategies to use. Then, when you feel more confident you can do one reading section within 20 minutes
It is also important to get used to reading texts similar to the exam ones:
Read advertisements, popular magazines, booklets about different countries, museums, hotels in English etc.
IELTS General reading is easier than Academic, but the last text is huge and on an academic topic. So, you should read some texts on wild life, business, environment etc. to get ready for this 3rd section.
